Nectar Health Sciences is a privately-owned cannabinoid isolation and extraction company. We are a team of experienced scientists and industry experts who are dedicated to commercializing our unique, patented cannabinoid isolation technology. Our research scientists have developed a novel, chemistry-based purification process that isolates cannabinoids to >99% purity.
We have entered the final stages of design and deployment of our proprietary system, developed to meet the growing global demand for plant-derived cannabinoid isolates. Our objective is to deliver industry-leading volumes of the highest quality isolate at the lowest cost.

Paul brings over 25 years of experience from a varied business career in which he was involved in a wide array of pursuits including marketing institutional investment management services, mergers and acquisitions and international market expansion. Through this experience and his qualifications, (BSc, MBA, CFA) he has a sound and thorough understanding in the business practices required to keep the company focused on its critical path. Paul is committed to help uncover new specialized markets and to continuing to identify and develop the partnerships the company will rely on to commercialize its core technology.
Director of Compliance & Intellectual Property, Senior Biochemist
Jay brings seven years of experience in technology development with a number of biotechnology and applied chemistry start-ups. He holds a BSc. in biochemistry from the University of Victoria and is the Head of Laboratory at Nectar’s Cannabis Research and Analytical Testing facility.
Jay specializes in cannabis and controlled substance regulatory compliance and plays a key role in directing the research efforts supporting Nectar’s growing Intellectual Property portfolio.
Naomi Yamamoto
Elected as BC MLA for North Vancouver-Lonsdale in the 2009 and 2013 general election. Held 5 Cabinet positions. Chaired BC’s Small Business Roundtable, helped create the Premier’s Women’s Economic Council. Highlights include introducing the formal apology to Japanese Canadians for the internment during WWII, championing Open Educational Resource development, coordinating the provincial response to the US concerning resource extraction in the Flathead Valley, working on border issues with various jurisdictions in the lead up to the 2010 Olympics and the execution of Exercise Coastal Response, BC’s first large-scale earthquake and tsunami response exercise.
Previously, Naomi was the president and owner of Tora Design Group in North Vancouver for 21 years. She also enjoyed working with the business community as chair of the BC Chamber of Commerce, chair of the North Shore Credit Union, and representing the North Vancouver Chamber on Vancouver’s North Shore Tourism Association Board.
Paul Carpanini
Paul brings over 25 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions , international market expansion and marketing institutional investment management services. Through his experience and qualifications, he has a demonstrated ability in leadership, sound business practices and a track record of assisting with many entrepreneurial start-up ventures. Paul has a solid background in Corporate Business Development and is committed to help uncover new specialized markets and niche opportunities in order to grow the business.
Barry Perlmutter
Barry is currently President and Managing Director of BHS-Filtration Inc., a subsidiary of BHS-Sonthofen GmbH. BHS is a manufacturer of filtration and drying technologies. Barry has over 35 years of technical engineering and business marketing experience in the field of solid-liquid separation including filtration and centrifugation and process drying. He has published and lectured extensively worldwide on the theory and applications for the chemical, pharmaceutical and energy / environmental industries and has been responsible for introducing and creating growth for many European companies and technologies into the marketplace.
Barry began his career with the US Environmental Protection Agency. He received a BS degree in Chemistry from Albany State (NY) University, MS degree from the School of Engineering at Washington University, St. Louis and an MBA from the University of Illinois. Barry served on the Board of Directors of the American Filtration
Dan Polonenko, PhD
Dan Polonenko is a principal and patent agent in the Calgary office of Gowling WLG. His practice involves patent drafting and prosecution in the fields of life sciences, focusing on biotechnology, health, medical devices, agriculture and forestry, oil and gas, energy, clean tech, environmental technologies, process engineering, and mechanical inventions. Additionally, Dan provides business-focused strategic intellectual property (IP) and technology commercialization services.
Dan is a member of the firm’s Chemistry, Technology, Life Sciences, and Patent Prosecution groups.
A registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States, Dan has over 20 years of experience in the Canadian biotech industry, including seven years at the executive levels at two companies. During his scientific and business careers, Dan co-authored 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications and several book chapters. As an inventor, Dan is a co-inventor of six issued patent families.
Doug Swift
Mr. Swift is an Advisor/Coach to owners of small and medium sized businesses. For the past three years he has shared his passion for driving growth in a service oriented, employee centric environment. Helping, like-minded, individuals nurture and develop their organization to heights they never imagined, is Doug’s ultimate reward. Prior to working with business owners, Mr. Swift was the CEO of TigerTel Communications Inc., the largest company, of its kind, in Canada and one of the largest in North America. From a small bureau in London, Ontario to a publicly traded national company, Mr. Swift was instrumental in creating an organization recognized as a North American industry leader.
During his working life, Mr. Swift has volunteered with numerous industry and charitable organizations, holding various board positions with both. He is a recipient of The Canadian Call Management Associations’ highest honour, The Tom Ryan Award, recognizing Ethics, Integrity and Service above all. He has also a recipient of Rotary’s, Paul Harris Fellowship.
Scott Lindsay
Mr. Lindsay was a co-founder of the Canadian based Shipping Agency and Brokerage Company, Pacific Northwest Ship & Cargo Services Ltd., was a managing partner of Seaspan (Cyprus) Ltd. (affiliated with the Washington Marine Group), and is a now the President & Director of Seabridge Marine Services Ltd. (Canada), and a director of various Corporate entities of the Seabridge Marine Group in both Canada and Asia as well as the Chairman of Terasea Pte Ltd. and a director of POSH Terasea Pte Ltd. The companies are specialists in heavy lift transportation, offshore towage, barging, and vessel construction.
Born and raised in Vancouver Canada, Mr. Lindsay holds a DipT in Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. With his over 25 years of business management experience focused on International Shipping and Transportation, he has always been active in and around the waters of British Columbia and the World on both a personal and professional level.
